What started as a design idea quickly turned into a prototype and within 2 weeks the final product.
Since the residence was short on horizontal space the only option was to build up so as to occupy a very small footprint.

The only requirement during the design and build process was to make sure the rabbit would be at least 3 feet off the ground. Therefore the bottom two boxes of the hutch were designated as storage, thereby creating a fully contained hutch accomodating the rabbit and all its necessary care supplies.

The steps leading upstairs come complete with non-slip material (which in this case also slightly and gradually files down the rabbit’s nails as it climbs up and down).

Incorporating a branch into the final build was part of the initial design, but the actual branch used served to specify the size of the top two boxes as they were built custom around it.
Besides the aesthetic factor the branch also served as a fifth leg to balance the center of gravity point of the hutch.

This turned out to be a very fun and purposeful creation. I really enjoyed it.
Final product measures 8’ 5” height, 4’ at the widest and 2’ depth.
